One is always (!) well-advised when being accompanied by Sir András Schiff – especially when delving into the music of Franz Schubert, a constant companion throughout the pianist’s career. This sentiment is likely shared by the young British pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen. Having previously been a student at the Gstaad Piano Academy, she has now chosen the Piano Sonata No. 14 and the monumental “Wanderer Fantasy” for her concert debut in the heights of the Bernese Oberland. Those two visionary masterpieces – such as the “Wanderer Fantasy”, which anticipates Impressionist ideas with its vibrant colours – are complemented by surprising Baroque touches from William Byrd.
