mountain spirit on Eggli
MOUNTAIN SPIRIT: Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy offers new concert experiences in the open air, in scenic locations close to the most spectacular peaks. Classical music in all its forms, contemporary music and DJ sets make for unique, unforgettable experiences.
Bosphorus Fantasies, 22 July
For the second chapter of his residency, Fazıl Say ascends to new heights, infusing the Eggli with the enchanting spirit of the Orient. With his own compositions and improvisations, he evokes the shimmering magic of the “Pearls of the Bosphorus”, joined by Aslıhan And on the flute, an instrument that perfectly embodies this atmosphere. Together, they reimagine Franck’s iconic Violin Sonata in a daring and captivating new interpretation.
Force of Nature, 26 July
Following last summer’s sensational debut, the Festival and PLAUSCH Events once again invite you to an unforgettable night of “crossover” magic on top of the Eggli. The evening kicks off with “Menuhin’s Heritage Artist” Nemanja Radulović and his ensemble Double Sens, delivering bold, high-energy reinterpretations of violin classics that promise to captivate. Coming up next: a live DJ set packed with energy and the vibrant Afro House rhythms of AWEN. A night of dynamic contrasts and boundless energy!
From New Worlds, 28 July
The King’s Singers, masters of Britain’s venerable choral tradition, carry forward the distinguished legacy of “choral scholars” shaped for centuries at Cambridge’s famed King’s College. Having already delighted audiences in Saanen with musical souvenirs blending past and present, the six a cappella singers now embark on a fresh and intriguing journey atop the picturesque Eggli peak. This time, the King’s Singers cross the Atlantic aboard Spanish and Portuguese galleons to delve into the rich and mysterious traditions of the Maya and Aztec cultures of South America.
Yodel meets Gershwin, 10 august
Have you enjoyed the unique charm of the brunch concerts on the Alp? Then you’re going to adore the new “Flying Lunch” concept on the Eggli summit just as much: a seamless blend of gourmet delights and musical highlights, all served to you while you sit back, relax and enjoy the moment. For the grand finale of the “Mountain Spirit” concert series, a vibrant programme has been crafted: an inspired fusion of American, folkloric and Danish string quartet arrangements, intertwined with the art of yodeling, brought to life by the local musician Beatrice Villiger. From traditional alpine yodels to contemporary compositions – highlighted by the Jodel Serenade from Château-d’Œx composer Reto Stadelmann – this event promises a delightful harmony of heritage and modernity.
