“Tempora mutantur” – Francesco Piemontesi III
Orchestral Concert
Saturday, 22 July 2023
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
For the third part of his residency, Francesco Piemontesi steps up a notch by welcoming on stage a magnificent ensemble playing on “historical” instruments – the Freiburger Barockorchester, founded in 1987 by students of the violinist Rainer Kussmaul – to share with him one of Mozart's last great Viennese concertos, also called “symphonic concertos”: the 25th, completed two days before the “Prague” Symphony and in all likelihood intended for the same Bohemian audience – an audience far more enthusiastic than the one in Vienna, who just shunned his Marriage of Figaro.
