Recital Maria João Pires
Chamber music
Friday 27 August 2021
(1) 6 pm | (2) 8.30 pm, Saanen Church
She is a living legend of the piano. The Portuguese artist (who loves Switzerland, sharing her life between the latter and her country of origin) is coming to Saanen with Schubert, Debussy and Beethoven's ultimate sonata: the unclassifiable Opus 111. Maria João Pires made her stage debut in 1949, at the age of five, in a Mozart recital. Trained by Karl Engel among others, she has made a name for herself in recent decades through her strong commitment to the next generation of young musicians at the Centre Belgais, which she founded in Portugal, and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels.
This concert is being filmed and recorded and can be viewed at a later point on gstaaddigitalfestival.ch. The Gstaad Digital Festival newsletter will inform you about the details of its publication.
