The Menuhin Academy Soloists bring together the best soloists of the Menuhin Academy Orchestra and aim to perpetuate one of Yehudi Menuhin’s principal commitments: the interpretation of works especially written for small chamber formations. It all started with the creation of the International Menuhin Music Academy in 1977, with the intention of offering particularly gifted young musicians a three-year advanced tuition programme on string instruments. The aim is, on one hand, to perfect their technique with excellent teachers and prepare for international competitions, and on the other hand, to acquire international concert experience within the Menuhin Academy Soloists, with performances in such prestigious venues as the London Royal Festival Hall, and tours to South America or Japan. The multicultural aspect of both the group and its tutors is also an important element of the Academy.
