Without them the most prestigious orchestra in the world simply would be condemned to silence! In 1972 the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic set off on a new adventure: they are one of the oldest and most emblematic ensembles to have originated from the eminent German orchestra. Their trade mark is music freed of complexities, for the most part arrangements, and a relaxed stage presence that breaks with the formal atmosphere of the grand concert halls – the natural swing of the basses!
