Opera Gala with Juan Diego Flórez
Symphony Concert
Friday 3 September 2021
7.30 pm, Gstaad Festival Tent
Although the current restrictions concerning international travel do not allow the Sinfoniá por el Perú to enter Switzerland, Maestro Flórez is able to present Gstaad Menuhin Festival and its guests another exceptional programme.
After a feast of Italian duets with Olga Peretyatko in 2018, the Peruvian tenor is back in the Gstaad Festival Tent with firework moments of the grand opera repertoire, accompanied by a large orchestra. Once again, Italy is in the spotlight with the masters of the 19th century transalpine circle, from Rossini to Puccini and from Donizetti to Verdi; but there will also be forays into the French world with Gounod. To make this evening unforgettable, the star tenor can count on the support of American conductor Christopher Franklin (with whom he recently performed in the world's greatest halls) and the Musikkollegium Winterthur, one of Europe's oldest institutions of orchestral music, founded in 1629.
