The Last Three Piano Sonatas – Beethoven 250
Recital Sir András Schiff
GALA Chamber Music
Wednesday, 5 August 2020
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
In addition to master classes dedicated to Schubert's Lieder and given in conjunction with baritone Robert Holl, Sir András Schiff continues his journey through the masterpieces of classical piano literature. With Beethoven's last three sonatas, the Hungarian musician has reached a kind of visionary summit, as well as the beginnings of a new way of embracing music, one that is much freer, much more audacious, and that breaks down all formal barriers: a true legacy, which will require several generations (of listeners and performers alike) to be fully appreciated.
