Notre-Dame à Saanen – Olivier Latry
Chamber Music
Sunday, 28 July 2019
6 pm, Saanen Church
Is there a more prestigious organ than that of Notre-Dame in Paris? By inviting Olivier Latry, co-titular organist there since 1985, it is a little as if we were moving – for an evening – the power of the iconic cathedral’s magnificent Cavaillé-Coll into the surroundings, albeit more modest but nevertheless as welcoming, of the St Maurice church in Saanen.
With a programme aimed to demonstrate all that such an instrument is capable of giving, both in the registers of harmony (skilful counterpoint of the German organists) and melody (brilliant frescos of the French masters).
