Difficult to imagine a better progamme as tribute to this «French spirit» both so familiar – a synonym of gracefulness, finesse and ease – and so hard to define, for the simple reason that it is not one but several.
Camille Saint-Saëns is a magnificent incarnation of this spirit, author of pieces both so very French and so… classical! And who better to serve him than pianist Bertrand Chamayou, «artist in residence» of the 2019 edition of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, whom we have had the chance to appreciate several times already – in Schubert transcribed by Liszt in 2014, and Ravel in 2016.
