La Passion – Roby Lakatos & Ensemble
Today's Music
Thursday, 9 August 2018
7.30 pm, Zweisimmen Church
He is one of the most flamboyant violinists from central Europe, here with his ensemble founded some thirty years ago. Roby Lakatos pays homage to his Hungarian roots (and the dynasty of gypsy musicians that shaped his development from an early age) and the great violinists whom influenced him, Stéphane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin in particular. He met Menuhin in a café in Brussels and that marked the launch of his career. Following his participation in the fireworks at the close of the Festival in 2016 (a sensational programme conceived by Didier Lockwood), he is back with a concert that is sure to be equally impassioned!
