Wagner in the Mountains – Jonas Kaufmann
Gstaad Festival Orchestra II
GALA Symphony Concert
Saturday, 18 August 2018
7.30 pm, Gstaad Festival Tent
This is the second concert with the Gstaad Festival Orchestra under the direction of its new artistic director Jaap van Zweden, featuring a rendezvous with star tenor Jonas Kaufmann. Those who were present in the Tent in Gstaad for the concert on 21 August 2015 are sure to agree that a performance by him is an unforgettable moment. The Italian programme from 2015 makes way for Richard Wagner and the first act from his opera “Die Walkyrie”, the first part of “The Ring of the Nibelung”. A challenge even for Jonas Kaufmann, who has performed on the world’s most important stages. The tenor can count on the assistance of two other outstanding singers: soprano Martina Serafin and baritone Falk Struckmann.
