Haydn: The Seasons – Seasons Recomposed II
GALA Choral & Orchestral Concert
Saturday, 14 July 2018
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
Following the performance of “The Messiah” last year, Paul McCreesh and his troops are back with Haydn’s greatest masterpiece: an immense fresco more than three hours in length that depicts the thousands of nuances of nature in perpetual mutation. From the song of birds to threatening storms to the simple charms of life in the country, it is a magnificent canvas that also prepared the way for Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony ten years later.
