Nikolaus I, Prince Esterházy, “The Magnificent”
Vilde Frang Residency III
GALA Orchestral Concert
Friday, 21 July 2017
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
Vilde Frang’s final concert at this year’s festival highlights the classical period: Mozart’s most audacious concerto set into relief by three great symphonies. She is joined by the Camerata Salzburg, one of the world’s leading chamber orchestras. Founded in 1952 by Bernhard Paumgartner in collaboration with the celebrated Mozarteum, it was then marked by years of excellence und the direction of Sándor Végh (1978-1997) followed by a radical stylistic turn under Sir Roger Norrington and new impulses with Leonidas Kavakos and then Louis Langrée, who was named principal conductor in 2011 - 2016.
