The Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels is for violinists what the Chopin Competition in Warsaw is for pianists: the holy grail! Young Korean violinist Ji-Young Lim will not contradict this… even if the televised announcement of the results on 31 May 2015 caused her to suffer a bit of a cold sweat! As a double homage to Switzerland and to Brahms (who is at the heart of this 61st edition of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival), she has chosen to perform the German composer’s Second Violin Sonata that was created on the shores of Lake Thun during the summer of 1886.
