Sounded Enigma – Hagen & Gabetta
Chamber Music
Wednesday, 9 August 2017
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
Founded in 1981, the Hagen Quartet is now a “living legend” with three of the four original members still active (two brothers and a sister who grew up in Salzburg). They are joined by one of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival’s icons, cellist Sol Gabetta, to perform one of the greatest works of all of chamber music: the String Quintet in C Major, written by Schubert during the last weeks of his life.
