Chamber Music

Sunday, 27 August 2017
6 pm, Rougemont Church

A student of Lord Menuhin in Stoke d’Abernon (after her studies at the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow), Alina Ibragimova was one of the last (like Nicola Benedetti) to work with the maestro, accompanying him with his own violin at his funeral in Westminster in 1999. She has been a preferred guest at the festival ever since. Perhaps you remember her magnificent interpretations of Mozart’s sonatas together with Kristian Bezuidenhout in Lauenen in 2015? Or her timeless performance of “Death and the Maiden” last year with Chiaroscuro Quartet, an ensemble founded at the time of her studies with Gordan Nikolitch at the Royal College of Music? Chiaroscuro Quartet will return this summer, playing on period instruments in a purely classical programme.
