Metamorphosen – Trans-cendence II – Julia Fischer II
Orchestral Concert
Tuesday, 16 July 2024
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
For the second part of her residency, Julia Fischer teams up with the world-renowned Camerata Salzburg, and it only gets more exciting: On the one hand, Beethoven’s extraordinary Violin Concerto takes the spotlight, a unique masterpiece and pinnacle of the genre. On the other hand, accompanying the Violin Concerto is a rarely performed aspect of the genius from Bonn, his Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 1. Following this, Julia Fischer and the Camerata Salzburg invite you to join them in tracing the dusky sounds of Richard Strauss’s Metamorphosen. This piece emerged from a profound sense of shock, the horror of witnessing his longtime workplace, Munich, completely destroyed by the Nazi regime – a sight that was nearly unbearable for the composer.
