Born in Zurich in 2007 to a Latvian mathematician mother and a Swiss jazz musician, Ilva Eigus is an extraordinary talent. She has been a student of Liana Tretiakova at the Zakhar Bron School of Music in Zurich for more than ten years, and at the same time she is studying at a college for artists and top athletes. She makes her debut in Gstaad in a highly demanding programme in which she honoured one of the greatest works of 20th century violin literature, Eugène Ysaÿe's Six Sonatas for Solo Violin, the fourth of which, dedicated to Fritz Kreisler, was chosen for a “dialogue” with Mendelssohn and Prokofiev.
