Dance on Ice – Children's and Family Concert

At the crossroads of music and dance, “Dance on Ice” is an innovative educational project that raises awareness of climate change among children and young people through musical and dance expression. From April to the end of August 2023, around 50 children and youths from Saanenland and the Basel region will come together to create a musical and dance performance, culminating in a public performance on 26 August 2023 at 4.30 pm in the village square of Saanen. Weekly workshops with a professional team will include lessons in music, movement, dance and rhythm, as well as information on current topics such as climate change and the influence of global warming on the glacial melt. These artistic and scientific approaches are guided by the artist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and a climate expert, Prof. Thomas Stocker. The end result is a joint artistic work, born out of an introduction to rhythm through movement and dance, and the joy of immersing oneself in music together – young and old. In case of bad weather, the venue will be decided spontaneously and announced on the village square in Saanen.
