Veronika Eberle, Sol Gabetta und Antoine Tamestit – Stradivarius Trio
Chamber Music
Wednesday, 2 August 2023
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
This is a rather rare form of trio, to which composers have often preferred the piano version. But when the string trio in question has been chiselled by the same master luthier, the appeal is obviously magnified ... and even more so if the said instruments are signed by Antonio Stradivari and played by performers of the calibre of Veronika Eberle, Antoine Tamestit and Sol Gabetta! Add to this a programme full of lovely surprises – such as this Serenade in the form of a suite written in the early years of the 20th century by the all-too rare Ernö Dohnányi, with accents that are still very “Zentraleuropa” – and you are guaranteed an evening to remember.
Veronika Eberle, Violin (“Aurea” 1715)
