Matinée des Jeunes Etoiles III – Friedrich Thiele
Chamber Music
Saturday, 30 July 2022
10.30 am, Gstaad Chapel
A child of Saxony – a region rich in musical talent! – cellist Friedrich Thiele brings together in his recital the greatest German composers and the Russian Dmitri Shostakovich, with works of which not all of them are written for his instrument. The highlight is Shostakovich's Sonata, composed when the musician was not yet plagued by Soviet censorship, which Thiele has chosen to link with five piano preludes transcribed by Lera Auerbach, one of the most promising figures of the new Russian generation.
