“A peculiar type of music, crazy, almost solemn”: These words come from Robert Schumann who introduced the Kreisleriana to his wife Clara Schumann after completing it in 1838. For her debut in Gstaad, the young Chinese pianist HeChengzi Li chose this outstanding 19th-century piano cycle, but also masterpieces by Chopin and Scriabin, as well as a Fantasy by the Chinese composer Jianzhong Wang, in which “colorful clouds chase the moon”.
