Vienna would not be Vienna without its iconic waltzes and polkas, nor without its delightfully kitchy operettas with their inimitable style. Daniel Behle, a Hamburg tenor living in Basel and winner of the 2004 Robert Stoltz International Competition (indeed one of the kings of Austrian operetta), performs a magnificent anthology of them, enhanced by a few pages of his own composition (whose titles show a certain sense of self-mockery) and a few “hits” by Johann Strauss Jr played by pianist Christian Koch. For the meantime, we recommend watching the outstanding Beethoven Lieder recital by Jan Schultsz from August 14, 2020 in the Saanen Church, which has been made available as a video on demand on Gstaad Digital Festival!
