A Schubertiade among the Schobers – Schubertiade II
Sir András Schiff & Robert Holl
Chamber Music
Friday, 5 August 2022
7.30 pm, Saanen Church
This evening, which echoes the Gstaad Piano Academy devoted this year to the performance of Schubert Lieder under the direction of Sir András Schiff and baritone Robert Holl, has been conceived in the purest spirit of the so-called “Schubertiade” – i.e., a gathering of friends during which master and student roles are forgotten, hosted in large private Viennese salons such as that of Franz von Schober, friend but also poet and author of some of the most beautiful Lieder texts set to music by Schubert.
