Choir Concert

Thursday 12 August 2021
7.30 pm, Saanen Church

After their dazzling French evening during the “Parisian” summer of 2019, Nigel Short and his London-based Tenebrae Choir are back this time with an “at home” programme in a much narrower spectrum, as it features sacred works composed mainly in the 20th century. Alongside the “essential” Holst and Vaughan Williams there are pieces by Gerald Finzi – a friend of Vaughan Williams, who died in 1956 from chicken pox contracted during an outing with the latter near Gloucester – and Herbert Howells, also deeply influenced by Vaughan Williams.
