Sol Gabetta – Bertrand Chamayou: a tandem that has worked miracles in recent years and is here with one of the must-haves of this London edition, Britten's sublime Sonata, inspired by the dazzling playing of Rostropovitch. Additional programme highlights include Mendelssohn's First Sonata and Franck's Sonata, originally written for the violin, but whose warm colours are particularly well suited to the cello as well.
