Pure Beethoven! And on period keyboards, if you please... The great complete works for cello and piano by the German composer, presented over two evenings by Sol Gabetta and Alexander Melnikov, will be one of the highlights of this 2020 edition of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy. Scores from the great Viennese Classical period, testimony to the dazzling evolution of Beethoven's writing during these decisive years, still turned towards Haydn and Mozart for the two sonatas of Opus 5, and already fully into Romanticism for those of Opus 105. To be concluded on Sunday 26 July in Saanen.
