Parfum et musique
Sol Gabetta & Kammerorchester Basel
GALA Orchestral Concert
Sunday, 21 July 2019
6 pm, Saanen Church
Did you know that it was over a year before Georges Bizet’s sparkling Symphony in C Major was heard for the first time? Found by chance in a Reynaldo Hahn legacy in the Paris Conservatoire, its creation took place on 26th February 1935 in Basel, conducted by Felix Weingartner. What better symbol could there be than to listen to it today, performed by the «successors» of these pioneers? And to discover as opening to the evening a truly new work, made to measure for the Kammerorchester Basel by their young Portuguese Bruno Soeiro.
