Timothy Chooi made the headlines by winning the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition in 2014. Four years later, the 25-year-old Canadian violinist stepped into the main arena by winning 1st Prize at the prestigious Joseph Joachim Competition in Hannover. Taught by Ida Kavafian and Pamela Frank at the Philadelphia Curtis Institute and by Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, he is at present furthering his training at the Juilliard School in New York with Catherine Cho.
