Perhaps you remember his Duo for Violin and Cello that was performed as a world premiere during the Festival in 2014? Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks has once again a place of honor with his Concerto No. 2 for Cello and String Orchestra, performed by the artist who commissioned, premiered (in October 2015) and recorded (in 2015 for Sony) it: Sol Gabetta. The concert is filled with contrasts, including an excursion into the Alpine air with Olivier Darbellay performing on the Alphorn!
