Beethoven Violin Sonatas III – Faust & Melnikov
Chamber Music
Thursday, 27 July 2017
7.30 pm, Vers-l'Eglise Church
Following Rougemont and Zweisimmen, this is the last leg of the cycle of Beethoven’s complete violin sonatas with Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov, the incarnation of their very beautiful recordings released by harmonia mundi in 2009. The enchanting church in Vers-l'Eglise is the perfect setting to embrace the “Spring” sonata as well as the last work that the composer wrote for this genre, the 10th Sonata, penned ten years after the “Kreutzer” around the time of his letter to his “immortal beloved”, like a brief, eternal whisper.
