Cycle «Change III» 2023 — 2025

Experiencing the consequences of climate change at first hand - this opportunity is offered pupils of the Oberstufenzentrum Gstaad at a full-day workshop with the projects "Expedition 2 Grad" and "Girls on Ice".
A "Climate Day" will take place on 21 August, during which the young people will first attend a lecture by climate researcher Prof. Thomas Stocker.

Afterwards, they will be shown the way the Aletsch Glacier has changed directly before their eyes with VR glasses. The project "Expedition 2 Grad", accompanied by Prof. Niklaus Heeb and the team of the Zurich University of the Arts, uses 3D models to impressively show how the glacier will change as a result of climate change. The glasses make it possible to look into the past as well as into the future - what will the glacier look like if the earth warms by an average of 2 degrees?

In parallel, the pupils learn about the "Girls on Ice" project, which offers young women expeditions and introductions to glacier research.
This "climate day" will provide young people with up-to-date knowledge of research and an unforgettable immersive experience to dive into a virtual Alpine world and the future of glaciers.
